They do point to the center, but the light beam is cut off on one side so it doesn't blind oncoming traffic. Car that drive on the left hand side of the road (like in Japan) have headlights that have the beam cutoff on the right since oncoming traffic is on the right. Here in the US it's the opposite. So a car in the US with Jspec headlights will be blinding oncoming traffic.
Not that I give a shit about oncoming traffic. Most of them are too busy talking on their cell phones in their SUV's driving in the fast lane at 40 mph. Those morons wouldn't notice if a 747 was about to land on them.
